Seminole County urges residents to take precautions as mosquito activity increases

Recent rain and hot weather are creating ideal conditions for mosquitoes across the county

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Officials said mosquitoes are more than just a nuisance because they can also carry diseases.

Residents are encouraged to use EPA-registered insect repellents, wear long sleeves and pants during peak mosquito activity periods, and eliminate standing water around their homes where mosquitoes can breed.

Common areas to check include trash can lids, wheelbarrows, kiddie pools, toys, birdbaths and bromeliad plants.

Seminole County Mosquito Control is also available to assist residents experiencing increased mosquito activity.
