WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. — Seminole County residents looking to prepare for potential rising water levels can pick up sandbags at Central Winds Park beginning Tuesday afternoon.

The City of Winter Springs announced it will open a self-serve sandbag site Nov. 3 in response to increased rainfall and concerns about rising water.

The site is at Central Winds Park, 1000 Central Winds Drive, and is open to all Seminole County residents while supplies last.

Sandbag pickup hours

The city listed the following operating hours:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 3: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 4: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Nov. 5: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Households are limited to 15 sandbags. The city will provide empty bags and sand, but residents must fill and load the bags themselves.

What to bring

Residents should bring their own shovels and gloves. The city also recommends bringing a partner to help because filled sandbags can weigh about 35 pounds.

How to find the site

Drivers should enter Central Winds Park from State Road 434 at Central Winds Drive.

Once inside the park, continue to the roundabout, turn left and head straight to the parking area at the rear of the park.
