The program will help students feel comfortable in the field when they graduate.

“There’s not words to provide how grateful I am that I can get out of high school and find a job right away,” said student Amaia Sayavanh.

The program trains students to become nurses, medical technicians and clinical laboratory technicians.

Murphy said she is working on securing more than $5,000 to expand the program and train more students for health care careers.

In July, a bill including funding for this project was approved by the House Appropriations Committee.
