SEMINOLE COUNTY, FLA. — Seminole County’s fire chief said a new exhaust system will be installed at every firehouse in the county to make sure diesel fumes do not permeate the firehouse and living quarters.
Firefighters have a 9% increased chance of being diagnosed with cancer and a 14% increased chance of dying of cancer.

“This is actually a very awesome piece of equipment that we are getting,” the 17-year veteran and two-time cancer survivor said.
Jazz Zombo, the representative for the Central Florida Firefighter Cancer Support Network, said Seminole County has been very progressive when it comes to firefighter safety by installing these systems.

It will take about three years to equip all 19 Seminole County firehouses with this new exhaust system.
