OCALA, Fla. — A severe weather event earlier today in Ocala left some residential areas with significant damage, including downed trees and power lines.

On SE Eighth Street, a tree fell across the front yard of one home. The home next to it sustained significant damage from another tree to the back and inside.

Photos shared by Ocala Fire Rescue show extensive damage after a tree fell into the home, damaging the kitchen, living room, and a bedroom. Officials said the damage compromised the home’s structural integrity.

The weather event prompted multiple emergency responses.

Ocala Fire Rescue was called to the home just before noon. A few minutes later, crews were called to E. Fort King Street, where another home was damaged by a neighbor’s tree. The tree damaged the home’s roof and fence.

Both that home and one home on SE Eighth Street were condemned.

No injuries were reported.
