COCOA BEACH, Fla. — Lifeguards spotted large sharks in the water at the Cocoa Beach pier and at Alan Shepard Park, causing temporary beach closures to bathers and surfers.
A lifeguard at the Cocoa Beach pier saw a shark close to shore around 11 a.m., according to Brevard County Ocean Rescue Chief Eisen Witcher.
Lifeguards closed the surrounding for about an hour, reopening at noon.
Around noon, a lifeguard spotted a shark in front of their tower at Alan Shepard Park.
Lifeguards closed that beach for about 30 minutes after the sighting.
Both beaches are back open as normal.
