Ex-boyfriend of slain Dr. Phillips woman arrested on Daytona beach

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The ex-boyfriend of a woman who was found shot to death in her Orange County home was arrested Wednesday on an unrelated charge, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Kristofer Gould, 34, is a person of interest in Jorgete Acarie's death. Acarie was found dead in her Dr. Phillips home on Forrest Run Lane Sunday with her uninjured 2-year-old son beside her.

Authorities said Gould, the toddler's father, was arrested in the Daytona area by beach patrol after they found him sleeping on the beach.

A beach safety officer said he came across Gould about 1:30 a.m. The officer said Gould appeared to be camping on the beach, which is a county ordinance violation.

Authorities said Gould told them his name was Steven Johnson and that he was from Virginia.

Gould had a bag in his possession and when asked what was inside, opened it for the officer, who said he saw a pistol grip inside.

Gould was taken to the Branch Jail, where officers discovered his real name and that he had been identified as a person of interest in Acarie's shooting. He is being held on $6,000 bond. Jail officials said he'll remain jailed until Orange County serves him with two warrants for probation violations. Less than a week before her death, Acarie told deputies Gould had thrown a brick at her through her window.

Acarie was planning to go to court again Monday in an effort to get Gould to obey orders to leave her alone, but she was found dead before that happened.

Victim's sister talks to WFTV about woman's death

"I just don't understand why nobody stopped this," said Acarie's sister, Vivianne Acarie.

Vivianne Acarie said she watched for months as Gould became more frightening, making threats, stalking her sister and breaking into her home. She said her sister lived the last weeks of her life in fear that she was going to be killed.

Investigators said Gould has not been named a suspect, but he is a person of interest in the case.

Vivianne Acarie said there's little doubt in her mind.

"I think he don't have God in his heart. I think he's evil. He don't care about anybody. He don't care about his own son, who could have been killed the same time next to her," said Acarie.

Vivianne Acarie went on to call Gould a scary and violent man.

"Every time I feel like my sister's going to walk to me and just hug me, and I just know it's not going to happen. And that hurts me so bad, hurts me so much. There are no words I can tell you now, my pain," said Acarie.
