KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Investigators said an unknown number of patients may have had liposuction procedures performed by a man who never should've been doing them.
Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation agents raided the office of Sculptural Orlando, in Kissimmee, Thursday morning.
Agents said surgical assistant Mariano Uggariza Fuentez did not have a license to do the procedures.
His clinic closed for business Thursday, following the raid.
"Back in December of 2012, we got a tip from the Florida Department of Health that there was a person at this business that was possibly practicing medicine without a license," said Lt. Buddy Riggi, of the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation.
According to investigators, Fuentes was a surgical assistant who performed liposuction procedures out of a business licensed as a massage center. He operated the clinic for the past two years, but it's only recently that federal agents were able to crack down on Fuentes after he agreed to perform a liposuction on an undercover agent.
"This individual instructed them how they would perform the procedure and said that he would be the person performing the procedure," said Riggi. "This gentleman was practicing or trying to practice under the licensed medical doctor."
Agents said Fuentes is being charged with two counts of practicing medicine without a license.
