WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. — Officials said an SUV crashed into a West Melbourne home on Thursday and into a bedroom where a couple was sleeping.
WFTV was at the scene as the driver was being carried into an ambulance.
Officials said he crashed his Chevy Tahoe into the home on Tortuga Way and Dairy Road at about 7 a.m. Thursday.
A woman inside was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center, authorities said.
A witness told WFTV the driver was at a stop sign right before he crashed.
"Like he came to a complete stop and then just floored it," said the witness. "I thought he was going to do a U-turn then he just gunned it like 60 miles an hour, directly into the house."
Authorities said they don't know what caused the driver to lose control of his SUV.
