Teen accused of hammer attack talks to WFTV

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A competency hearing was held for Isaiah Cain at the Orange County Courthouse Thursday.

Cain is already serving a 20-year sentence for raping a 16-year-old in April 2011.

While Cain was awaiting trial in case, prosecutors said he attacked a teenage girl with a hammer.

The hearing didn't last long, but it was long enough for the judge to announce that Isaiah Cain was found incompetent to stand trial by one doctor.

WFTV obtained transcripts of an interview with Cain's alleged teenaged victim.

Cain was out on bond and wearing a GPS monitor when investigators say the 17-year-old lured a younger teen girl to his parent's home.

According to transcripts Cain met his victim after she texted the wrong number. Those texts led to the two meeting in person.

According to the transcripts, the victim brought gifts to the meeting. She then said that Cain told her to close her eyes and turn around so he could give her a gift.

"I just felt him hit me in my head," said the victim.

"Do you know what he hit you with?" asked the investigator.

"I know when I reached like this for him to stop I couldn't see but I was feeling, and it felt like a hammer," said the victim.

"About how many times would you say if you had to guess?" asked the detective.

"Over 20," said the victim.

Then, according to the transcripts, she told investigators Cain stuffed a towel in her mouth and took her to a bathroom where he began filling a bathtub.

"He ran some water halfway full and like, told me to get on my knees and tried to drown me," said the victim.

In June WFTV asked Cain about the accusations.

"Sometimes I have urges to hurt things," said Cain. "I don't know why,"

The victim told detectives that when Cain finally lifted her head from the water she begged for her life.

"He was like, 'You're going to tell on me'. I was like, 'No, I'm not. I won't. I'll act like I don't know you,'" said the victim.

She said Cain took her car and dropped her off on a street asking her to pray for him.

Thursday the judge ordered more mental evaluations and set a new hearing two months from now.
