SOUTH FLORIDA — A Florida teen whose arm was severed by an alligator two months ago is learning how to use his new prosthetic arm.
Fred Langdale was attacked by a 17-foot alligator while swimming in a river near the Florida Intracoastal Waterway.
Last week, the 17-year-old was fitted for a prosthetic arm, and doctors have praised him for the progress he's made in such a short time.
"Wow. [I've] never seen anyone pick it up so quickly in 27 years," said Dan Stzempka of Hanger Prosthetics.
The prosthetic arm detects movement in Langdale's forearm and allows him to grab, grip and hold objects.
