PALM COAST, Fla. — Three men were arrested after Flagler County deputies searched a Palm Coast home as part of an ongoing overdose death investigation.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said its SWAT team and detectives served a search warrant Aug. 6 at a home on Roxbury Lane.
As deputies arrived, they said they saw 39-year-old Michael McDermott run from the back patio toward the main bedroom. Several other occupants also moved from the living room toward the bedroom, according to the sheriff’s office.
The SWAT team entered the home and detained four people without incident.
During the search, detectives said they found fentanyl and drug paraphernalia in plain view throughout the house. They also recovered ripped, wet plastic bags from a shower that investigators believe were part of an attempt to destroy evidence.
McDermott, 38-year-old Matthew Green and 50-year-old Kavin Price were arrested on charges of possessing fentanyl, tampering with evidence and possessing drug paraphernalia. McDermott was also charged with resisting or obstructing an officer without violence.
The fourth person inside the home was not arrested.
Price was later released on a $6,500 bond. McDermott and Green remained in custody on bonds of $7,000 and $6,500, respectively, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators have not said what connection, if any, the three defendants had to the overdose death beyond the search being conducted as part of that investigation.
The death investigation remains active, and the sheriff’s office said additional charges are possible.
