ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Police Department arrested Susan Holloway, Jessica Bennett, and Jennifer Bennett on Aug. 19 in connection with the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Daryl Willis Jr.
The arrests stem from a shooting on May 20 at the intersection of Harbour Road and Chesapeake Avenue. According to police, the incident resulted from a dispute over property that Willis allegedly stole from Jessica and Bennett’s mother the night before the shooting.
Officers responded to the intersection at approximately 6:59 p.m. on May 20 and found a vehicle crashed into a tree in front of a home. Inside the vehicle, officers found Willis suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
Investigators learned that Willis had agreed to return the property and went back to the residence the day after the alleged theft. Detectives determined that Bennett, Bennett, Holloway, and Joseph Petrus planned together to recover the items. When Willis arrived, Petrus confronted him and shot him as he attempted to drive away. Petrus drove away from the scene but was arrested shortly after by patrol officers. Petrus was arrested shortly after the shooting.
Detectives said Bennett and Holloway then drove to the location where Willis crashed his vehicle and attempted to retrieve the property from inside. Police also accused Bennett of tampering with evidence following the shooting.
This remains an open investigation.
