TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Law enforcement officers from two counties are searching for a bank robbery suspect who was involved in a high-speed chase on Wednesday, according to Titusville police.
The search for the man began in Brevard County and crossed over into East Orange County, authorities said. The vehicle was going more than 100 mph, heading west on SR-50 in Brevard County and then drove into Orange County, police said.
Police believe the man held up a bank in Titusville. They said when the culprit realized he was being tracked by officers, he began fleeing from investigators.
Officers said they are looking for Anthony Spence, 36, from the Titusville area.
They said he was already wanted on another warrant when investigators identified him in connection with the TD Bank robbery in Titusville on Wednesday morning.
Spence was tailed from the bank, and there were periods where he was being chased by law enforcement, but when he reached the Orlando area, deputies said they backed off for the safety of citizens and motorists.
That's when Spence got the opportunity to ditch the evidence, officers said.
"There was a chase that started in Titusville, turned to Orange County. With the assistance of Orange County, we were able to keep track of him, identify him, and he was able to get out of here so we want to find out where he is now," said Detective Cpl. Gary Boyer of the Titusville Police Department.
Investigators said they are searching a neighborhood on Bloomfield Drive and Rouse Road near SR-408 by the Magical Car Wash, where the suspect dumped the maroon-colored car, money and other evidence.
