Tony Stark’s one-of-a-kind Acura will be auctioned to benefit charity

The winning bid will be donated to a charity selected by the buyer

ORLANDO, Fla. — Tony Stark’s superhero ride could soon be parked in someone else’s garage.

Acura’s one-of-a-kind NSX Roadster Concept from Marvel’s 2012 film “The Avengers” is going up for auction through Cars & Bids.

Bidding is scheduled to open Oct. 17 during the Cars & Bids Willow Springs Reimagined event and close Oct. 31 during the Las Vegas Concours.

Anyone with a verified Cars & Bids account can participate, according to the auction announcement. The winning bid will be donated to a charity chosen by the buyer.

Robert Downey Jr., playing Tony Stark, drove the custom roadster in the final scene of “The Avengers.”

Despite its futuristic appearance, the movie car is built on a 1991 Acura NSX that had about 252,000 miles on its odometer before the transformation.

A team at the Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles, led by then-Creative Director Dave Marek, designed the vehicle. Trans FX in California fitted a handcrafted resin and fiberglass body to the first-generation NSX.

The build also included a 2-inch suspension drop, 18-inch wheels, aftermarket seats and the “STARK 33” license plate seen in the movie.

The roadster’s design was inspired by the second-generation NSX Concept, which helped preview the production model that arrived several years later.

Acura said the car needed to be dependable enough for filming rather than serving only as a static prop. The automaker brought the roadster back into public view during Monterey Car Week in 2025 after it had been out of the spotlight for more than a decade.

Now the auction will answer a question for Marvel fans and car collectors alike: How much is Tony Stark’s car worth?
