Man, 69, dies in rollover crash on SR 417 in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A deadly rollover crash has a section of SR-417 shut down Wednesday in Orange County.

11:15 a.m. update:

Investigators said an 18-year-old Orlando man driving a 2022 Dodge Challenger was trying to change lanes when he lost control of the vehicle.

They said he struck a concrete wall and traveled into the direct path of a 2014 Ford Escape being driven by a 69-year-old Orlando man, causing his vehicle to overturn.

Investigators said the 69-year-old man was taken to UCF Lake Nona Hospital, where he died.

The 18-year-old was uninjured and remained at the crash scene, they said.

“There is still currently (a) roadblock for all northbound lanes on State Road 417, south of State Road 528,” and FHP spokeswoman said. “Traffic is being diverted at Moss Park.”

This crash remains under investigation.

The crash happened on northbound SR-417 near mile marker 24, north of Moss Park Road.

A Channel 9 drone flying over the crash found a vehicle in the medium that had flipped upside down.

Several Orange County Fire Rescue firefighters and paramedics were seen working the crash scene.

It’s unclear what caused the accident and how long the crash will impact traffic.

Heavy traffic delays are seen in the area and drivers should seek an alternate route.
