CENTRAL FLA. — Tropical Depression Fay is moving slowly in the eastern Atlantic, while a new Atlantic system is possible later next week.
The 11 pm advisory from the National Hurricane Center had winds of 35 mph.
The system is expected to remain a depression over the next several days.
Fay is moving slowly to the south but is expected to accelerate in the coming days.
The storm will remain out to sea in the open Atlantic and will now likely be a remnant low by early next week.
Fay formed early Sunday morning and is the sixth named storm of the season.
Another tropical system, Gonzalo, became post-tropical Saturday evening after impacting the Cabo Verde islands.
Elsewhere, there is an area of interest in the open Atlantic.
This area is located southeast of Bermuda and could organize some during the early and middle part of next week.
The National Hurricane Center is still giving this system a 20% chance of development as it moves northward.
Neither complex will impact Florida or the United States.
