CENTRAL FLA — Tropical Storm Cristobal is moving quickly eastward in the central Atlantic and will likely be a short-lived storm.
The 5 pm advisory from the National Hurricane Center had winds of 45 mph.
Cristobal formed on Wednesday morning and is the third named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.
The storm is expected to slowly weaken in the open Atlantic and dissipate on Thursday.
Cristobal is moving east at 21 mph and is expected to turn east-northeast on Wednesday night.
The storm will remain in the open Atlantic and well east of Florida and the United States.
Two Other Systems to Track
Elsewhere in the Tropics, there are two other areas to monitor in the open Atlantic.
The first area, known as Invest 92L, is in the open Atlantic and continues to move westward.
Conditions remain favorable for organization, and a tropical depression is likely to form by late week.
The National Hurricane Center is giving this area an 80% chance of development.
Invest 92L could impact portions of the Lesser Antilles this weekend.
A second area of interest is located west of Africa and is also moving westward.
Models have become more aggressive with development, and this now has a 40% chance of development.
