CENTRAL FLORIDA — Tropical Storm Dolly is moving quickly in the open Atlantic on Thursday evening and is forecast to be a short-lived storm.
The 5 pm advisory from the National Hurricane Center had winds of 40 mph.
Dolly formed on Thursday morning and is the fourth named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.
The storm is expected to remain a tropical storm for the next couple of days, then become a tropical wave by the weekend.
Dolly is moving quickly west, and this motion is expected to continue. The storm will be nearing the northern Lesser Antilles this weekend.
Interests in the Lesser Antilles should monitor the progress of Dolly, where heavy rainfall is becoming likely this weekend.
There is high uncertainty as to the exact rack of the remnants of Dolly next week, and this will be monitored over the next several days.
Warm waters north of the Greater Antilles could allow Dolly to reorganize, but that is very uncertain.
We are in the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season and additional systems in the coming weeks is likely.
