ORLANDO, Fla. — Meteorologists are keeping an eye on three areas of interest across the Atlantic Basin as tropical activity begins to increase.
The area with the highest chance of development is Invest 92L, located in the South Central Atlantic.
It has an 80% chance of developing over the next seven days.
Forecasters expect a tropical depression could form and move westward across the Atlantic by the end of the week or into the weekend.
However, the potential system will face some challenges as it approaches the Caribbean, including dry air and increased wind shear.
Meanwhile, Invest 93L is located in the North Central Atlantic and has a 50% chance of developing over the next 48 hours.
93L has a relatively short window to strengthen before it moves over cooler ocean water on Thursday.
Regardless of whether it develops, the system is expected to move eastward and away from the United States.
A third, newer area is also being monitored farther east, near the coast of Africa. This tropical wave currently has only a 30% chance of developing over the next seven days.
For now, none of these areas pose an immediate threat to the U.S. However, forecasters will continue to monitor the Atlantic closely, particularly Invest 92L, as conditions evolve over the coming days.
