CENTRAL FLA. — The tropics remain active as we start a new work week, with two areas potentially becoming tropical depressions.
The first area is a potential development zone in the open Atlantic.
A strong tropical wave will move off the coast of Africa on Monday, and it could further organize next week and potentially become a tropical depression.
The National Hurricane Center is giving this area a 50% chance of development.
This wave will need to be monitored as it moves westward across the open Atlantic, but it will stay at sea for at least the next 7 days.
The other area we’re monitoring is in the open Atlantic.
An area of low pressure is east of Bermuda and has begun to organize.
This could become a short-lived tropical depression or storm in the next couple of days.
This low-pressure system has a 40% chance of development.
The complex is anticipated to remain in open waters but could approach the Canadian Maritimes late in the week.
