COCOA, Fla. — Police are investigating a possible murder-suicide after two children and an adult man were found dead inside a Cocoa home on Wednesday.
Investigators said preliminary findings suggest the deaths may have been the result of a murder-suicide.
Neighbors told Channel 9 they were shocked to learn what happened.
“In this neighborhood, you don’t hear stuff like that usually happen, so I’m pretty shocked, yes,” Ruben Diaz said.
Marco Garcia, who lives right across the street, said he heard two loud noises around midnight.
“It was 12:20 am, midnight,” said Garcia. “I was getting ready to go to sleep. I heard two hard blasts. Two hard sounds.”
Police responded to the scene around noon Wednesday and cleared the area around 4:30 p.m.
Garcia said he has lived in the neighborhood for four and a half years and has never experienced anything like this.
“Sad. Sad because of the children,” Garcia said.
Police believe the incident was isolated and said there is no active threat to the public.
Authorities have not released the identities or ages of the victims. Their relationships to one another also remain unclear.
The investigation is ongoing.
