ORLANDO, Fla. — Ride-sharing companies like Uber and Lyft can now pick up passengers from Orlando international Airport.
Before Saturday, passengers could get a ride from Uber or Lyft to Orlando International Airport, but if they want a ride home, they had to take a cab or the more expensive Uber Select.
Though passengers can now order Uber and Lyft from the airport, a $5.80 fee will be added on top of the fare that will go to the airport directly—which is similar to what taxi passengers pay.
Uber’s Florida general manager, Kasra Moshaani, said the change comes after a long battle in the Orlando market, and also makes ride-sharing consistent across the state for riders and Uber drivers.
“What that means is for the drivers, the same experience in terms of economic opportunities, being able to earn money on the platform. That's going to be consistent across the state,” said Moshaani.
