UCF student charged with trafficking Ecstasy

ORLANDO, Fla. — Police said a University of Central Florida student studying biomedical science may have used his education to operate a drug trafficking operation.

The investigation into Max Waters, 21, began after a routine traffic stop. Police said drugs were found in a vehicle and the occupants told investigators they had purchased the drugs at Waters' Orlando home.

According to police, a large amount of Ecstacy, some marijuana, LSD and $40,000 cash was found inside Waters' bedroom.

A woman who opened the door at the home told Channel 9 she rents a bedroom to Waters and said he seems like a nice guy.

Police said besides the drugs and cash, officers found materials to manufacture Ecstacy, a handwritten formula for the drug and information about his studies at UCF.

"It wouldn't surprise me one bit because kids these days use that anyway. I mean you get knowledge like that, it's easy to apply it," said neighbor Jason Bridges.

According to school officials, Waters withdrew from his classes at UCF after his arrest on drug trafficking charges. He left the Orange County Jail after posting a $250,000 bond.
