SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. — A 69-year-old Villages man was arrested Tuesday on multiple felony charges after shooting into a neighbor's residence, deputies said.
Sumter County deputies said Howard Sparber was infatuated with his neighbor and shot 33 rounds into her home on Landale Loop late Monday night.
Deputies said Sparber was intoxicated when he shot at the home and then tried to get inside.
No one was inside the home.
Neighbors who heard the shots confronted Sparber, who was holding a Sig Sauer 9mm semi-automatic handgun, deputies said.
The victim said Sparber had been harassing her since November 2015 with sexual propositions and had previously pointed a gun at her.
The victim said she took steps to avoid Sparber when he repeatedly approached her home, trying to contact her.
Sparber was arrested without incident, deputies said.
Authorities said Sparber was found with two empty magazines, one with a 15-round capacity and one with a 20-round capacity.
Deputies said the fired rounds entered a storm door, front door and continued through the foyer and into the kitchen cabinets.
The home suffered approximately $3,000 in damages.
Sparber is being held at the Sumter County Detention Center without bail. He was charged with armed burglary, aggravated stalking, shooting into a dwelling and criminal mischief.
