GENEVA, Fla. — Geneva church volunteers discovered Wednesday that their thrift shop had been robbed and then vandalized by the thieves.
Volunteers hadn't been to the store since Saturday but arrived to find shattered glass and their store trashed.
"The more we looked the worse it got," volunteer Treva Blalock said.

The volunteers said they discovered someone had stolen jewelry, money and game consoles.
"(They) took fire extinguishers and sprayed in practically every room and then urinated on the floors all over the place," Blalock said.
The thrift store has been an outreach of the Methodist Church on Church Street for 10 years. Blalock said they've had issues with crime in the past, but never anything this bad.
"Vandalism I do not understand. If you need something, come here, I would give it to you, but to tear things up just to tear things up, it's a total mystery to me," Blalock said.
Blalock estimated the damage in the thousands.
The store not only loses the money from the stolen goods but has to get rid of the donations covered in the chemicals from the extinguishers.
"Why do you want to do something to a church that's trying to help the community?" Blalock said.
Seminole County deputies said they are investigating the burglary and vandalism, but Blalock said she doesn't want the person responsible to go to jail.
"What I'd like is for restitution. You come and clean up what you messed up. If that could happen, I would stand here and supervise," Blalock said.
