VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County has acquired nearly 1,300 acres of land along the St. Johns River as part of its conservation efforts.
The county completed the acquisition of the 1,299-acre River Bend Ranch Reserve through the voter-approved Volusia Forever program.
The property includes wetlands, uplands and pasture, with more than two miles of frontage along the St. Johns River and another 1.3 miles along Deep Creek.
County officials said the acquisition will help protect water resources and wildlife habitat while preventing future development on the property.
River Bend Ranch Reserve also adds protected land to the Florida Wildlife Corridor where it runs through Volusia County.
With the acquisition, Volusia County’s conservation efforts have helped protect more than 65,000 acres since 1986.
