VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla.,None — Volusia County's Solid Waste Division has contracted with Republic Services to provide waste collection services to its customers beginning Monday, Jan. 2. This change will affect 44,000 homes in unincorporated areas.
Republic Services delivered new 95-gallon blue garbage carts to customers in December, and customers should start using these containers next week.
WCA Waste Corp., the current provider, was scheduled to pick up the old green garbage carts this week, but has been delayed.
WCA officials have announced the following schedule to remove old garbage carts:
● Flagler Beach, Holly Hill and Ormond Beach: Jan. 2-7
● Astor, Barberville, Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores, Pierson, Ponce Inlet, Port Orange, Seville, South Daytona and Wilbur-by-the-Sea: Jan. 9-14
● DeLeon Springs and DeLand: Jan. 16-21
● Cassadaga, Deltona, Enterprise, Lake Helen, New Smyrna Beach and Orange City: Jan. 23-28
● Edgewater, Oak Hill and Osteen: Jan. 30 - 31
County customers should begin using the new blue carts Jan. 2 and should place their old green carts on the curb for removal during their scheduled week. Garbage and recycling collection services will not be affected.
