VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County and the Volusia Sheriff’s Office will temporarily close about 125 on-beach parking spaces in several high-traffic areas during Labor Day weekend to improve pedestrian safety.
The restrictions will be in place Saturday through Monday near five beachfront parks. Officials say vehicles can still drive through the areas, but parking will be prohibited.
The county says the changes affect less than 3% of the more than 5,000 on-beach parking spaces available countywide and are intended to reduce conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians during the busy holiday weekend.
Officials also reminded beachgoers that the Seabreeze Boulevard beach ramp remains closed due to structural concerns with a nearby building.
