Volusia County prepares for Artemis launch crowds and traffic

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County beaches are expected to attract large crowds for the Artemis launch scheduled for Wednesday evening. Officials warned that the event will likely cause heavy traffic congestion along coastal roadways and on Interstate 95.

The launch is expected to bring a high volume of visitors to Florida’s Space Coast. While primary viewing areas are located in Brevard County, Volusia County provides additional viewing opportunities with numerous beach access points.

Volusia County provides more than 60 off-beach parking lots for those planning to view the launch locally.

Locations for these lots are available through the Volusia Beaches mobile application. Registered Volusia County residents can park in these locations at no cost through the ParkVolusia program. Residents who have not yet registered for the program can do so through the ParkVolusia website.

Visitors who are not residents or do not possess an annual pass must pay a $20 daily fee to park in the off-beach lots. This parking fee is available for purchase onsite at the lot locations.

Due to anticipated tidal conditions, officials expect that on-beach driving will be unavailable during the time of the launch.
