Lockdown lifted at DeLand City Hall, suspect in custody, officials say

DELAND, Fla. — Officials said the lockdown at DeLand City Hall has been lifted.

The building was on lockdown Tuesday morning after a man allegedly shot himself and threatened to harm himself and others if law enforcement officers tried to stop him.

Officials said the man came to City Hall for a short time but left.

City officials said the suspect was then contained in a parking lot outside of AdventHealth DeLand. The public was asked to avoid the area.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect is in custody after Sheriff Mike Chitwood and Deputy Clausen made contact with the suspect.

No other information was availble.
