VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 48-year-old Deltona man was arrested Monday after authorities said he caused a crash on Interstate 4, then drove away in a heavily damaged pickup truck.
Volusia County deputies found the pickup in Deltona, boxed it in, and brought it to a halt. The driver, Jesus Latorre, was taken into custody without any further issues.
Troopers responded to the crash near mile marker 108 on eastbound I-4. Investigators said a gray Ford F-150 struck two vehicles, causing one vehicle to overturn onto its side.
Troopers reported that the F-150’s driver fled the scene despite significant front-end damage and a missing tire on the driver’s side. A witness tracked the truck and provided its whereabouts to law enforcement.
Latorre faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving injury, DUI, reckless driving, fleeing, refusing to submit to DUI testing, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without proof of insurance.
