DELAND, Fla. — The cleanup continues in DeLand three days after an EF-2 tornado damaged or destroyed dozens of homes.
City and Volusia County leaders came together Friday to warn people who were impacted by the storm of possible scammers looking to take advantage of them.
Here are a few things they want residents to know:

- Building officials here recommend you vet any contractor you find. They said you need to check if they are licensed and insured.
- They said if a contractor does the work and they are not licensed and insured and there are any issues, your homeowner's insurance is not going to cover it.
- You can verify if someone is licensed by going to the state's website.
- If they are licensed and insured, they will be able to get a permit from the city for any work they are doing.
- That permit should be posted some place visible like your window or door.
