NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office provides updates about an active scene in New Smyrna Beach. A small banner plane crashed into the ocean off New Smyrna Beach late Thursday morning, witnesses report.
The crash was reported at approximately 10:51 a.m.
Sheriff office confirms the pilot was the only occupant and could evacuate the aircraft. The pilot’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
No other people were involved or injured.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and will handle the investigation into the cause of the crash.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
Crews are working to remove the aircraft from the water. The circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately available.
