Shooting suspect arrested trying to buy guns, sheriff’s office says

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a shooting suspect outside of a gun store in Ormond Beach Tuesday night.

The shooting suspect, 19-year-old, Clifton Allen of Mims, was being surveilled by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Game Over Task Force on Tuesday when he and three others traveling in a back Honda Accord crossed into Volusia County.

Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies called Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies for assistance in tracking and apprehending the suspect. According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s office, the suspect arrived at the Florida Gun Exchange on Nova Road in Ormond Beach and was in the process of buying firearms.

With the help of deputies, K-9 units on the ground and Air One above, all four occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without incident before they were able to buy guns.

During the arrest, Volusia County deputies found an AK-47 with two loaded 30-round magazines and a 75-round drum magazine inside the vehicle.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s office Clifton Allen was arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm. One of the passengers in the car, 19-year-old, Zamarie Daniels, was arrested on a Brevard County warrant for fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement.
