Volusia County reinstitutes face mask requirement for employees as COVID-19 cases surge

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County employees are again being asked to wear face masks at work if they are not able to social distance.

“We are at a crisis point and need your help to keep each other, our offices and our residents safe,” county officials said in an email to employees.

Officials said Volusia County is a high transmission area for the virus, and case numbers are spiking dramatically.

The county said it is encouraging but not mandating that employees get the COVID-19 vaccine.
