NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Firefighters were busy Sunday trying to control a wildfire burning in New Smyrna Beach.
Crews with the Volusia and New Smyrna Beach fire departments told Eyewitness News the fire covered about 8 acres. Investigators believe it started with an unauthorized burn.
The flames forced authorities to close State Route 415 near Budd Road.
As of 6 p.m. Sunday, the flames were about 60 percent contained.
