ORLANDO, Fla. — As we continue to track the tropics, there are three areas out in the Atlantic Ocean being monitored.
Meteorologist Kassandra Crimi said two of those areas are not of concern and have a very low likelihood for development. Both have no greater than a 10% chance of developing over the next 7 days.
The third is an area of low pressure off the coast of Africa. There is a much better chance of development from this system by the end of the week, according to Crimi.
As of Tuesday, there is a 70% chance for tropical development. Crimi said we will likely have a tropical depression traversing across the Atlantic this weekend.
Of course Severe Weather Center 9 will be monitoring in the coming days.
The next named storm this hurricane season will be Cristobal.
