ORLANDO, Fla. — An Orange County judge is considering whether bail is appropriate for a teenager accused of running down a police officer during a traffic stop.
The incident happened in July when Edward Kelty, 17, was pulled over by Orlando police officer William Anderson.

Video from Anderson’s dashcam played during a hearing Monday showed the incident unfold. Anderson’s wife, Jessica Anderson, testified that she didn’t want to see Kelty hurt anyone else and urged the judge to deny him bail.
“We fear for our safety,” she said. “If someone will go out and hurt a law enforcement officer, I fear who else that individual will hurt as well.”
The video shows Anderson confronting driver Kelty before being run over as he fired shots into the car.
Kelty was injured by a bullet, but Anderson was permanently disabled with a brain injury.
Williams’ wife cried in court as the video was shown.
"He ended up being in a condition where his entire body tremored uncontrollably. He could not feed himself. He could not walk. He could barely speak. He eventually, with rehabilitation, was able to regain those skills," said Jessica Anderson.
Judge Julie O’Kane will review the video footage before making a decision on setting bail. A court representative said the decision is expected by Tuesday.
