Wildfire catches railroad ties on fire in New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A pile of railroad ties caught on fire Tuesday afternoon near the New Smyrna Beach-Edgewater border.

The wildfire is on 10th Street and 95 percent contained, officials said.

The fire is surrounded by trees with an east wind at 8 mph, said certified meteorologist Irene Sans.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
