Winter Garden nursery awarded license to grow Charlotte's Web

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — An Apopka family said they’re relieved that central Florida is now closer to producing a form of medical marijuana.

Knox Nursery in Winter Garden is the only place in central Florida that has been licensed to produce what’s known as Charlotte’s Web.

Kisse Crichlow’s 2-year-old son, Kameron Crichlow, was diagnosed with epilepsy.

Things like rolling over and standing up are hard for him to do alone.

“There is something here on this Earth that we can definitely put to use to give them a better shot at doing things they should be doing,” said Crichlow.

Kameron’s parents are grateful to know that 30 minutes away from them, medical marijuana will be grown and dispensed.

Knox Nursery in Winter Garden became central Florida’s only licensed location for low THC marijuana.

The 700,000-square foot, family-owned business operates high-tech greenhouses.

A spokesperson for the nursery released a statement that read, "We are humbled by the understanding that our mission is to bring comfort and relief to patients suffering from painful and debilitating illnesses."

The strain of Charlotte’s Web has been legal in Florida since last year.

Knox Nursery will be among the first to grow it, beating out seven other applicants for the license.
