LEESBURG, Fla. — A woman was shot and killed Tuesday morning after allegedly attempting to enter a home on Crest Avenue, police said.
Officers responded to Crest Avenue around 4:43 a.m. The homeowner told investigators he warned the woman to leave and said he was armed.
Police said the woman continued trying to get inside. The homeowner fired through the door, breaking a window. When the woman reached through the opening, he fired again, striking her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Leesburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating with the State Attorney’s Office, which will determine whether charges are appropriate.
