Woman hit, killed while searching for wallet on OBT, troopers say

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A 58-year-old woman was hit and killed while looking for her wallet in Osceola County shortly after she'd been involved in a crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Margarita Contreras, of Boca Raton, was hit by a northbound passenger vehicle on Orange Blossom Trail south of the Osceola Parkway around 1:15 a.m.

Contreras had been in an accident just prior to being hit. She had pulled her car into a nearby parking lot and went back out in the roadway because she believed she’d dropped her wallet, troopers said.

The driver did not stop at the scene, troopers said.

Troopers described the car that hit her as a tan or gold passenger vehicle with damage to the front.
