WINTER PARK, Fla. — A woman was hospitalized and multiple pets were rescued Wednesday morning after a fire broke out at an Orange County apartment complex off Goldenrod Road in Winter Park.
Orange County firefighters said they responded to reports of the fire at Cranes Landing apartments, just after 5 a.m. Firefighters said they put out the flames 10 minutes after they arrived.
Firefighters said the blaze started in a first-floor unit after someone accidentally left a pot on a stove. A 32-year-old woman was sleeping inside the apartment when the fire started and was able to escape.
Firefighters said she was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and taken to a hospital. Authorities said she will be OK.

Firefighters said crews on scene also rescued one cat from the first-floor apartment and five cats from the apartment above it. Firefighters said the residents of the second-floor unit made it out of their apartment safely, and that the cats are expected to be OK.
Firefighters said 30 residents were evacuated due to the fire.
