ORLANDO, Fla. — After a 50 year absence, White Castle has returned to Florida.
Company and Civic leaders broke ground on what will be the largest free-standing White Castle in the world Thursday.
The 4,567 square foot restaurant will still have the iconic “tower” but with a more modern industrial-style design, the company said.
The restaurant will include indoor and outdoor seating, two drive-through lanes, and is expected to create 120 new jobs.
When it was announced a year ago officials said the Orlando “Castle” would be part of the $1 billion O-Town West mixed-use development near Williamsburg.

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said Thursday’s groundbreaking is a good sign for business in Orange County.
“This is all about bringing our economy back here within the Metro-Orlando area and it starts with these types of initiatives,” Demings said.
The new construction marks the 100-year-old hamburger chain’s first return to Florida since the 1960s.
The company said the new location is scheduled to open in Spring 2021.
