ORLANDO, Fla. — One man is recovering after being shot outside the IHOP on Summerlin Avenue and Colonial Drive (see map) early Monday morning, according to the Orlando Police Department.
AT THE SCENE: Cops Gathering Evidence
The victim was shot once. Police do not believe the injury is life-threatening. The victim is being treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Meanwhile police are having a hard time coming up with a description of the shooter.
"We saw a car drive by busting out gunshots," eyewitness Brandon Moran said.
Witnesses believe they saw a drive-by shooting, and police said at least one gunshot was fired in the parking lot of the East Colonial IHOP.
"You should be able to go anywhere during Halloween and not be worried about any fights or gunshots," eyewitness Ron Shaw said.
The restaurant was packed with people when the gunshots erupted. Witnesses said they saw several people in a car speeding away from the scene and that the suspects continued to fire into the air as they sped away.
"At first I thought it was just someone with a fake gun, shots in the air. But my girlfriend she's like 'No that's a gun,'" Shaw said.
Police said the victim has not been able to give them any information that might lead them to a suspect. Witnesses said they were confused about exactly what was happening when the violence erupted.
"We come here to eat, and this thing happens. That's not right, that's not right at all," Shaw said.
Police said the victim was hit in the arm or shoulder area. They didn't have an update on his condition.
