New online dashboard helps travelers adjust to delayed or canceled flights

ORLANDO, Fla. — If you’re planning a trip that includes a flight, you might notice some changes.

Starting this weekend, the Department of Transportation plans to better inform passengers on what they can do if their flight is delayed or canceled.

New data shows a surge in complaints from passengers.

Bad weather and airline staff shortages caused big problems.

Rebooking flights or getting refunds is a major issue for passengers.

“It’s probably one of the most difficult experiences and I felt almost on my own,” one traveler said. “We tried to call them on the telephone, it’s a three-hour wait.”

The DOT is creating a new online dashboard where travelers can learn more about the services provided and when airlines delay or cancel flights.
