WINTER GARDEN. Fla.,None — An Orange County pharmacy was robbed in Winter Garden Friday. The Medicine Shoppe on Dillard Street was held up late Friday afternoon.
Investigators told WFTV the robber was after Oxycontin. A victim told WFTV she had a gun held to her head.
Investigators were still on site Friday evening collecting evidence after the suspect robbed the shop and took off, managing to get away from police.
Darlene Spivey is still shaken up after she had a gun shoved in her face.
"I figured if he was going to do anything, he'd do it right there. Well when he had the gun on me, if he was going to shoot me, he'd of shot me then. He had the gun right in my face," Spivey said.
Winter Garden police say a man barged into the pharmacy just after 3:00pm and demanded several types of prescription drugs.
"White male, about 6-feet, 6'1" came to the store with his face covered with a black cloth. He demanded oxycodone and the like of narcotics. He did have an automatic weapon," Keith Ralston of the Winter Garden Police Department said.
Seconds later, he darted out of the store but left behind several key pieces of evidence.
"Went running down this sidewalk behind us, he dropped the majority of the product. While he was trying to scoop it up, he left his footwear and continued on foot," Ralston said.
Police dogs searched nearby neighborhoods. Detectives believe the robber lives in the area and could be hiding out close by.
There were at least five employees inside the store during the middle-of-the-day robbery. Spivey said she was praying the entire time.
"I just trust God, whatever. It just happened so quick, you just do what you've been trained to do," she said.
Investigators are reviewing the store surveillance video.
