From 7:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. on August 6th, residents in neighborhoods throughout
Altamonte Springs and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside
lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods
throughout Altamonte Springs will be hosting a variety of special events such as block
parties, cookouts, parades, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anti-crime
rallies.
The following neighborhoods in Altamonte Springs are participating:

Brantley Estates
Brantley Terrace
Capistrano Condominiums
Charter Pointe Apartments
Crescent Place Condominiums
The event will be held at the Waterfront Park located at 100 3rd St, Clermont, FL 34711, from 4pm - 9pm, rain or shine.
In support of this cause, children of our community ages 6-17 were asked to participate in an essay writing contest. Three Kindles will be awarded to the top essay in each age group. The deadline for submissions is August 1, 2013. While at the event you can also support local charities by bringing a non-perishable food item for a local food bank, an item for the South Lake Animal Shelter or gently used shoes for a children's charity.

The Holly Hill Police Department will host an Open House at police headquarters on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm as part of the 30th Anniversary of National Night Out.
The Open House will held at the Holly Hill Police Department, 1065 Ridgewood Avenue, and will include static displays of law enforcement and emergency management equipment and group tours of Holly Hill's historic police facility and City Hall.
Holly Hill Police Chief Mark Barker and his officers will be on hand to answer questions and provide resource information on crime prevention and safety programs.
During the Open House, visitors will be treated to a free Hot Dog cookout, and local businesses will feature displays and door prizes throughout the evening.
Orange County:
In addition to the neighborhood events, the Crime Prevention Unit is sponsoring a "Preventing Crime Theme Party" contest which will allow each neighborhood watch organization to compete for the best and most creative event plan. Each winner receives recognition from the Orange County Sheriff's Office and a visit from the Sheriff, Sector Commander, and/or other staff personnel.

Orlando:
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will join with Orlando residents to participate in the 30th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6th, 2013, along with Orlando City Commissioners, the Orlando Police Department and the Orlando Fire Department.
Mayor Dyer will lead a caravan along with Orlando Police Chief Paul Rooney, Orlando Fire Chief John Miller and the City of Orlando's Neighborhood Watch staff to present awards to the three neighborhood watch parties selected as the first, second and third place winners in the National Night Out theme contest. This year's National Night Out theme is "Lights on mean lights out for crime!" and the winners include:
First place: Washington Shores Neighborhood
Second place: Clear Lake Cove Neighborhood
Third place: Carver Shores Neighborhood
The City of Orlando ranked third in the country for our National Night Out efforts last year and has placed in the top winning categories for the last 18 years in a row.

Port Orange:
The Port Orange Police Department will be hosting its 8th annual "National Night Out Against Crime" Block Party on Tuesday August 6, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Port Orange City Center Complex.
Join your friends, neighbors and members of the Port Orange Police Department on Tuesday August 6th at the National Night Out Against Crime Block Party. Displays and presentations by the Port Orange Police Department's traffic division, marine unit, Volunteers in Police Services and the Port Orange Police Explorers. There will be games, art displays and food vendors on hand. Additionally, children's "bounce house" and a dunk tank will be available. Crown Shredding will be on site and the Raydon Corporation will be attending with a simulator. Kieser University's Criminal Justice Program will be providing fingerprinting.
