ORLANDO, Fla. — The FBI has allowed the Orlando Police Department to release photos from inside the Pulse nightclub, where Omar Mateen shot and killed 49 people in June.
Many of the photos released Tuesday shows multiple bullet holes in the walls and knocked-over furniture.

They also show the heavy damage after police blew out a portion of the wall to rescue people from Mateen, who was holding them hostage in a bathroom.
Officers were able to gun down Mateen once they broke through the wall.
The pictures also show Officer Michael Napolitano's Kevlar helmet, which saved his life when he was hit by one of the bullets during the attack.
Napolitano was a member of the team that took on Mateen as they broke through the wall of the club.
During the exchange of gunfire, a single bullet cracked off his helmet, leaving it seriously damaged, but Napolitano with only minor injuries.
